Build a Pathway for Community Members to Join Your Board
Design a recruitment and onboarding process that makes board membership accessible and meaningful for community members.
About This Workshop
A working session where the board and leadership team design a pathway for community members to join the board of directors. Most board recruitment processes are designed for professionals with board experience, creating barriers for community members whose expertise comes from lived experience. This workshop designs a recruitment, onboarding, and support process that makes board membership genuinely accessible.
We Will Work On
- Assessing current board recruitment practices and identifying where they create barriers for community members
- Defining what the board needs from community representation and what community members need from the board
- Designing a recruitment process that reaches community members and communicates clearly what board membership involves
- Building an onboarding process that prepares community board members to participate fully
- Designing ongoing support practices so community board members are not set up to fail
This Workshop Results In:
-
A written pathway for community board recruitment with recruitment strategy, onboarding process, and support practices.
Designed for: Board members and executive directors. Works best when both current board members and the ED participate together.
