Build a Compensation Improvement Plan
Examine current compensation honestly and build a phased plan for improving it within real financial constraints.
About This Workshop
A working session where leadership examines the current compensation structure honestly and builds a plan for improving it within actual financial constraints. This workshop does not assume unlimited resources. It assumes that most mission-driven organizations know their compensation is insufficient and need a structured way to move toward something more sustainable and transparent.
We Will Work On
- Assessing the current compensation structure: base pay, benefits, nonmonetary support, and informal expectations
- Naming the gap between what the organization asks of staff and what it provides in return
- Identifying where compensation inequities exist across roles, tenure, or identity
- Prioritizing improvements based on impact, feasibility, and organizational values
- Designing a phased plan that moves toward greater equity and transparency over a realistic timeline
This Workshop Results In:
-
A written compensation improvement plan with specific priorities, a phased timeline, and language for communicating the plan to staff and board.
Designed for: Executive directors, HR leads, finance staff, and board members. This workshop requires the people who set compensation and the people who approve budgets to be in the room together.
