About This Consultation

A referral-based engagement for foundations that receive applications from organizations doing meaningful work that are not yet ready for a grant. You refer the organization to HRW. We have a structured conversation with them about what they are doing, where they are strong, and what is getting in the way. You receive a written summary of what we found and what we recommended.

This gives you a way to show up for organizations before you can fund them — and it gives the organization something useful regardless of what happens next with the grant.

This typically includes:

• A structured conversation with the referred organization — typically 60 to 90 minutes
• A written summary of observations and recommendations, provided to the foundation and the referred organization
• Optional: a follow-up conversation with foundation staff to discuss findings
